My workbench

While I could pile up more test gear I have acquired for a more impressive display, I have found that the setup shown below is sufficient to get the job done correctly.

My work area flanked by test speaker pairs (Klipsch RB-10, EPI M50 and Bose 901 series IV).

2 large 500 watt load resistors (8 ohms each) are barely visible sticking down in the shadows under the desktop.

Wall-mounted Klipsch RP600Ms are part of my personal system.

Cleaning products

Sencore 165 stereo analyzer (used primarily to generate FM MPX stereo signal for tuner alignment)

HP 8656A signal generator (FM modulation of Sencore MPX output plus AM generator)

Wavetek model 110 audio signal generator (signal path function testing and amp performance)

Phillips PM6666 frequency counter (used during tuner alignment)

Along bottom are my transistor and capacitor testers

Top -> down,

Rigol DS1054 oscilloscope (probing signals to debug issues, amp test output monitor, etc)

Tektronix 2246 oscilloscope (X/Y mode for tuner alignment, love old Tek scopes from my youth)

HP 333A distortion analyzer (amp performance testing, classic bit of test gear)

Lazy susan with 1000lb capacity bearings 🙂

Wide screen computer display (especially nice for schematics)

Bose 901 series IV equalizer

Fluke 115 multimeter (voltage and current measurements)

“dim bulb” tester (limits 120V current for initial power up tests)

Variac (allows controlled AC line voltage bringup for initial testing)

Hakko FR301 (vacuum assist de-soldering tool)

Variable temperature soldering station and solder spool
